According to provisional data of the Federal Statistical Office, Germany exported commodities to the value of EUR 82.0 billion and imported commodities to the value of EUR 65.5 billion in June 2007.
German exports of June 2007 were thus 11.9% and imports 9.0% above the respective June 2006 levels. Upon calendar and seasonal adjustment, exports increased by 2.1% and imports by 6.7% on May 2007.
The foreign trade balance showed a surplus of EUR 16.5 billion in June 2007. In June 2006, the surplus amounted to EUR 13.1 billion. Upon calendar and seasonal adjustment, the foreign trade balance recorded a surplus of EUR 14.9 billion in June 2007.
According to provisional results of the Deutsche Bundesbank, the current account of the balance of payments showed a surplus of EUR 16.6 billion in June 2007, which included the balances of services (EUR –0.6 billion), factor income (net) (EUR +3.5 billion), current transfers (EUR –1.9 billion) and supplementary trade items (EUR –0.8 billion). In June 2006, the German current account showed a surplus of EUR 12.0 billion.
In June 2007, Germany dispatched commodities to the value of EUR 53.5 billion to the Member States of the European Union, while it received commodities to the value of EUR 44.2 billion from those countries. Compared with June 2006, dispatches to and arrivals from the EU countries increased by 11.3% and 14.9%, respectively.
Commodities to the value of EUR 35.5 billion (+9.9%) were dispatched to the euro area countries in June 2007, while the value of commodities received from those countries was EUR 30.7 billion (+13.5%).
Commodities to the value of EUR 17.9 billion (+14.4%) were dispatched to EU countries not belonging to the euro area in June 2007, while the value of the commodities which arrived from those countries was EUR 13.5 billion (+18.3%).
Germany exported commodities to the value of EUR 28.5 billion to and imported commodities to the value of EUR 21.3 billion from countries outside the European Union (third countries) in June 2007. Compared with June 2006, exports to third countries rose by 13.1% while imports from those countries decreased by 1.5%.
