State Planning Organization (DTP) has approved the use of Gölbasi town in Ankara district as an exhibition area for carpets and kilims in a project named 'Turkish Village'.
Under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Sümer Carpets, the owner of the project, has already started developing infrastructure in Gölbasi for building the facility.
'Turkish Village', which would serve as a showroom, would require an investment of TRL 2-2.5 million. DTP has contributed TRL 100,000, to the project.
The 'Turkish Village' would showcase Anatolian handicrafts along with handmade carpets and kilims. The village would serve as an exhibition as well as an entertaining center for the visitors.
This effort aims to perk up popularity of Anatolian handicrafts in the domestic and international markets. This would also help the Turkish carpets to bring back its glory across the globe.
