Fiber Industry and Development Authority (Fida) has reported 100 percent success regarding the abaca nursery establishments.
Fida established and has been managing open-type field abaca nurseries in 10 areas in Sarangani Province since June 2006. The project covering eight hectares is funded by the provincial governments of the areas.
Six hectares are located in areas Zion, New La Union, Upo, Btian, Sitio Falel, Sabayol, Bocay-il, and Bantam, while the remaining two are in Wali and Maligang.
It said the total number of hectares targeted for the activity was fully met for the second quarter of the year.
Philippines’ world-renowned manila hemp is produced from Abaca.
