JASMA is pleased to announce that International Apparel Machinery Trade Show , JIAM 2008 will be held in Singapore for the 1st time outside Japan.
A triennial show, JIAM had presented 8 editions since its first appearance in 1984. Building on an excellent track record over 24 years, JIAM has evolved into one of the world's top 3 major apparel machinery trade fairs.
It is widely acknowledged by the textile and apparel industry and the scale and quality of the show increased with each showing.
With the significant global changes in the textile and apparel industry, in particular, the shift of manufacturing activities to meet the challenges of the competitive global market place, Asia alone accounts for more than 70% of the global production.
Countries such as China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan,Vietnam, Cambodia and the other newly industrialized countries (NICs) in South Asia and South-East Asia have increased their production tremendously.
As these countries focus on apparel export to U.S.A and Europe, there will be an increase in demand for value-added products that offer quality design and functionality, leading to increase in demand for latest apparel machinery.
In view of these market changes and future growth in the region, JASMA selected to host JIAM in Singapore in May 2008. We are confident that the island's airline connectivity and strategic location as the sourcing hub in the apparel industry will be most idealto attract the buyers from the region, in particular, South East Asia and South Asia.
