Chinese made toys and children’s necklaces were recalled from Canada as a high level of lead content was detected in them. The products retracted included Thomas and Friends Wooden Railways items.
This action undertaken by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, ensures to call off nearly 601,000 children’s toys and jewelry, of which about 27,000 rejected goods belong to Thomas and Friends. Besides, this was not the first instance of withdrawal, a total of 90,000 Thomas toys were already withdrawn from the Canadian market in June this year.
In accordance with the recent regulation issued by the commission, children’s products having more than 0.06 percent lead should not be made available to the customers and copious measures are also taken to make certain that faulty Chinese toys are beyond the reach of children.
