The c_change membrane technology from Schoeller was the recipient of a number of international prizes in 2007. In June 2007, the smart material properties convinced the jury of international experts, who awarded c_change the Avantex Innovation Prize 2007.
In addition, the sixth KMUPrimus prize of the St. Gallen Kantonalbank went to the company Schoeller Textil AG from Sevelen.
“Open when warm, shut when cold”: c_change is a new membrane technology which follows nature’s example. It reacts to changing temperatures and activities.
The membrane is set to a particular temperature range. As soon as higher prevailing temperatures or body warmth result in greater moisture which has to be wicked away, the membrane reacts.
The flexible polymer structure of the hydrophilic membrane alters, allowing water vapor to escape quickly to the outside air.
As soon as the body produces less heat energy and therefore less moisture, the polymer structure returns to its original condition. In this way, body heat is stored and protection built up against cold.
The water vapor permeability adapts flexibly and ensures the optimum climate close to the body. The c_change membrane is water and windproof, offers a high level of breathability, is suitable for elastic and non-elastic clothing and conforms to the bluesign standard.
The c_change membrane is presented by Schoeller Textil AG as very versatile and in surprising updated fabric compositions, e.g in velvet, cord, herringbone, glen check, velours, flannel and loden looks and some ladies' outerwear fabrics with attractive sheens in the shape collection.
Also available are feather-light fabrics with a paper effect, in carbon looks or as a lightly padded and aluminized innovation in the spirit collection.
In the waterproof and windproof WB-formula collection, most of the fabrics have been combined with c_change, which has also been integrated into some dynatec innovations. The membrane is processed as both a two-layer solution and a three-layer fabric with charmeuse.
