His mantra has always been “less is more” and he did not deviate from it. Nachiket Barve’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection at Lakme Fashion Week was aptly called “Hide and Seek” where he played with pastel and sheer fabrics to create one of the most ethereally beautiful collections of the week.
The colours were so soft they almost melted into nothing as lime, viridian, coral, Geranium, marigold, mango, apricot, avocado, sea foam, emerald, lapis, bougainvillea and of course white were hues.
Layered in sheer textures of chanderi, organza, voile, cambric, raw silk, chiffon, Lurex, georgette and shot silk the line was a perfectly matched combination of style and form.
The all western range of minis and separates were created minus fuss and flounce. The constant detailing was an abundance of texturing with pleats, a sprinkling of embroidery and some exquisite cutwork. The look was very international which will appeal to women around the globe.
Starting with a textured silk organza dress with pleated bodice and skirt with layers of turquoise and white, Nachiket moved to a racer back dress with silver Lurex lining and contrast with shocking pink piping.
The lapis silk organza shift with viridian silk lining and coral piping with bell sleeves, the lime and silver hibiscus cut work dress with fluid sleeves and the textured pleated geranium raw silk mini dress with fitted bodice and scooped back were some more eye catchers.
It ws afashionable ‘hide and seek’ that Nachiket Barve played with fabrics, colours and embellishments which will most definitely catch the buyers’ attention.
