Omniflex LLC of Greenfield, Massachusetts USA, announced the addition of Natural Elements odor-control technology to its Transport family of waterproof-breathable films.
Unlike other methods that require two layers to control odor and provide waterproof breathability, Transport films with Natural Elements now allow fabric laminators, as well as designers and manufacturers of performance apparel and footwear, to create waterproof-breathable, bacteria-, mold- and mildew-killing textile composites with a single film lamination.
These high-performance films can be used in a wide variety of apparel and footwear that demands high moisture-vapor transmission, good drape, quietness, excellent stretch and recovery, and wash durability. Made from polyurethane, co-polyester, and ether-amide polymers, Transport films can be laminated to fabrics using all commercial lamination techniques for 2, 2-1/2, and 3-layer fabrics.
Natural Elements odor-control technology was developed by Omniflex’s joint venture partner, Etcetera LLC. These additives can be incorporated in films, adhesive systems, yarn, or surface treatments for fabrics. This technology utilizes a variety of silver, copper, blends of each, or proprietary non-metallic additives to meet the particular odor-control needs of a specific apparel application.
Unlike other methods that absorb or mask odor, the Natural Elements additives incorporated in Transport films actually kill odor-causing bacteria. Uniquely, the formulation of these films can be tailored to provide slow-to-fast activation, short-to-long lasting, or a combination of both in the same film layer.
