Many celebrities are icons of style, influencing fashion from teens to seniors. Now film and television star Katherine Heigl is putting some glamour into medical uniforms. Her new line of designer scrubs, the Katherine Heigl Collection, gives nurses the opportunity to infuse their drab medical scrubs with vibrant colors, trendy patterns and flattering cuts. The collection is collaboration between Katherine Heigl and Peaches Uniforms.
“Celebrity designers are a growing trend,” says Lilly Berelovich, president and chief creative officer for Fashion Snoops, a fashion forecasting and trend information service. “We are seeing Hollywood starlets put their names on everything from purses to perfume. Actors often capitalize on their on-screen personas to leverage business opportunities and extend their own personal brand.”
The Katherine Heigl Collection pulls inspiration from the runway to make hospital hallways look more fashionable – cargo pants, retro prints, casual hoodies, silk screen tops and blazer-style jackets. This is the first time that a celebrity has developed a product line for the healthcare uniforms industry.
The designs are appropriate for women of all ages who work in hospitals, private practices, clinics, dental offices, labs, spas and other healthcare environments. Peaches Uniforms uses high quality, soil-release fabrics to ensure long-lasting wear, comfort and durability.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and HumanServices, there are more than 2.9 million registered nurses in the United States. Barry Rothschild, CEO of Peaches Uniforms, thinks that it’s about time that the fashion industry paid some attention to them.
