India : AP industries to give competition to Gujarat - CM

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, stated on December 16 that the state was rapidly developing and is likely to outshine Gujarat in the coming few years.
The Chief Minister specifically pointed out areas like leather, textile and numerous other products that will receive unrestricted infrastructure and investments.
The Government is on the verge of investing heavily in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), industrial parks and multi-product clusters that are budding in the entire state. Besides, it has already attracted an industrial investment of Rs25, 172 crore in the period 2006-07.
Of the 70 SEZs approved for construction, nearly 46 have got notified and will be established over 6,894 hectares involving a sum of Rs32,525 crore. Around 24 of these have been assigned significance and will therefore be set up on 1,250 hectares.
