After inking a contract with Indian Chamber of Commerce, Peru’s Exporters Association (ADEX) announced on December 27 about its decision to encourage export of non-traditional goods to India in a bid to generate more job opportunities.
Presidents of both the organizations agreed to exchange views and news about business ventures and good’s trade.
Sources confirmed saying that the agreement concluded between the two countries would also promote participation of entrepreneurs in fairs, missions, exhibitions, seminars and other significant events. Besides, it will also encourage exchange of experts, production technology, design and marketing strategies.
Bureau statistics show that in 2006, Peru’s export to India amounted to over US $102 million whereas exports from India exceeded $139 million.
Peru largely exported traditional goods, while its focus on imports remained on items of chemical products, manufactured textiles and metal mechanics.
In the first 10 months this year, Peruvian exports to India stood at over $208 million showing an increase of 141 percent compared to the previous year. Traditional goods occupied nearly 98 percent of the total volume of exports.
