The 13th edition of Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) was scheduled to start today at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital. Organizers of the event are hopeful that the participating companies may tap Tk50 crore spot orders from local and foreign traders.
Organizers are also expecting a business of Tk500 crore from DITF-2008. This would certainly be a great deal more compared to the orders procured last year. In fact, it would nearly double the last year’s Tk25 crore spot orders.
The exhibition is going to display a wide variety of local and foreign products including machineries, equipments, carpets chemical and allied products, cosmetics, handicrafts, leather, leather goods and footwear, textile and garments, watches and clocks, jewellery and ceramics.
The Ministry of Commerce and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) is jointly organizing the exhibition, which will be inaugurated by Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed. A total of 395 organizations including the ones from foreign countries will be participating in the fair.
EPB officials announced at a press conference that the participating foreign countries include India, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, US, UK, Japan and Turkey.
