Leading retail software provider, Celerant Technology Corp., announces the release of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) for POS, to be launched at the upcoming NRF Show at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC on January 14 & 15. This cutting edge technology allows for faster check-outs and more efficient inventory tracking.
"RFID seems to have real-life applications in the warehousing environment, however, at the POS or retail store back office, there is not much RFID to speak of," stated Ian Goldman, Celerant President and CEO. "For RFID to work, in real-life, it must be incorporated into the entire product life cycle (receiving, transfers, sales, returns, etc). Once that is done, retailers can enjoy a POS transaction as simple as a customer dropping 10 garments on a counter, or a store-to-store transfer essentially as simple with an inventory clerk."
In addition to reduced transaction time at the POS, RFID will also allow for more precise inventory tracking, increased theft control, and more efficient transfers. Receiving time will be drastically reduced, as the system will read all products automatically during the transfer, and merchandise labels can be printed and received at the same time.
"This is just the beginning for Celerant's RFID capability," Goldman stated. "Now that we've incorporated RFID into the product lifecycle, we look forward to the near future when in-store security and visual up-selling will be standard RFID features changing the retail store environment forever."

Celerant's RFID application allows 4 point of sale terminals to read off one transceiver, with one antenna located under each work station. Celerant Command Retail's app server communicates with the transceiver and provides a completely integrated solution.
Celerant's Command Retail is an advanced real-time point of sale, POS software solution, which manages all areas of retail including POS, Inventory Management, Warehouse, Distribution Center, Allocation, Multi-Channel/E-Commerce/Kiosk, Data Mining, and Back-office, in a single, integrated system.
