Exposure to media and a fad to become fashion icons is decoying young children in Vietnam to join modeling classes right from the tender age of five.
Parents have taken up a new trend of sending their kids to modeling classes after school. So much so that the country is virtually having model training companies like Viet Model that grooms children in skills like dressing up, make up and cat-walking.
Vietnam's statistics show that in past couple of years the number of pre-teen models graduating from single training center has risen to around 250-300. Experts affirm that the trend is becoming a craze for children.
However, some of the parents believe that such un-scholastic approach to career can help children to become more confident and graceful especially since it can mould them to become more suitable for opportunities like a in modelling, television, magazines or even a various other media roles.
As always, opposition to such early pursuit to modeling is just as strong. Some of the parents believe that teaching kids to act older than their ages may adversely affect their growing personality and curb their natural orientation towards any other lucrative profession.
