Shades of beige, dull crème, pink, green and turquoise were selected for georgette, chiffon and silk and turned into colourful fusion wear by designer Pallavi Jaipur for her Spring/Summer 2009 collection. Recreating the beauty of Rajasthan, Pallavi’s embroidery was traditional and used sparingly for her wrap around minis, hipster skirts and long blouses with tiny Jaipuri prints, a cotton gilet and knee length swinging skirts and dresses with silver hemlines all with scattered floral embroidery. The saris were rich in colour and texture with lavish gota borders. The showstoppers, Bengali super star Rituparna Sengupta in a gorgeous green and gold sari, and Shazahn Padamsee in an ivory lehenga and choli ended a show, brought together the beauty of craft with some interesting western silhouettes by Pallavi Jaipur.
