Hot on the heels of its first major foray into the Canadian fashion scene, LG Canada (LG) has officially announced its continued commitment to the industry as it becomes title sponsor of Toronto's Fashion Week, beginning in 2009 (March 16-21). LG Canada looks forward to working with the incumbent title sponsor L'Oreal Paris, as the exclusive beauty partner and presenting sponsor.
Today's announcement marks one of many significant growth strategies for the biannual fashion week events, including the addition of IMG Sports & Entertainment Canada as the events' exclusive partner for sponsorship, sales and client services. The Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC), celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2009, will continue to develop and produce all creative aspects of the week's events. Valued partner and longstanding Canadian fashion supporter, L'Oreal Paris, will continue to have a large presence at LG Fashion Week as the presenting sponsor through onsite activations as well as its beauty team's continued role backstage.
"We couldn't be happier with today's announcement," said Andrew Barrett, Vice President, Marketing, LG Electronics Canada. "Working with the FDCC over the past year has been a pleasure, and we're ecstatic about continuing and strengthening this relationship through our new role as title sponsor. At LG we are committed to aligning our brand with style and fashion, and I don't think there's a more appropriate or high profile avenue to do this than by branding Toronto's premier fashion event, LG Fashion Week presented by L'Oreal Paris."
"L'Oreal Paris is proud of the instrumental role we have played with the FDCC over the past six years in building and growing Toronto's Fashion Week into the successful platform that it has become for our talented designers," said Anik Gagnon, Brand Communications Director, L'Oreal Paris. "As a testament to this success, we look forward to continuing our work with the designers for the coming years and to working with new title sponsor LG, the FDCC and IMG to further heighten the event's local and international visibility and buzz."
"2009 marks an incredible milestone for the FDCC. It will not only be our tenth anniversary, but in the fall we will host our 20th fashion week in Toronto," said Robin Kay, President Fashion Design Council of Canada and Executive Director LG Fashion Week. "We can't think of a better way to celebrate than by welcoming new partner LG Canada to our family. LG's presence at this fall's Fashion Week events was fabulous, and we're looking forward to many outstanding seasons with them. As always we are thrilled to continue working with our dear friends and supporters from L'Oreal Paris, while we embrace IMG Sports & Entertainment Canada, as our key service provider. Collectively, we are poised for success in 2009 and beyond."
IMG Sports & Entertainment Canada, a subsidiary of IMG World, will act as the exclusive sponsorship and sales managementcompany for the FDCC, playing a key role in client services for the week. IMG Worldwide is currently responsible for bringing together 22 weeks of fashion to world-class cities around the globe every year, including Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (New York) and Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (Sydney). The partnership will act to compliment the FDCC's continuing efforts of elevating Toronto's LG Fashion Week presented by L'Oreal Paris on the international fashion stage.
