You-Me-It Organics, a brand new organic T-shirt company, just launched their first website, displaying limited edition shirts with beautiful street art designs. The website, youmeit-organics.com, features men's and women's t-shirts with designs from famous graffiti artists.
The artists represent a New York City based graffiti crew called YMI?. The crew's artwork has been featured in the Graffiti Hall Of Fame, several published graffiti books, and even Marc Ecko's graffiti video game "Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure". This is the first time, however, that their artwork has inspired its own line of clothing. Each t-shirt is named and has a story behind it.
The National Resource Defense Council: We believe that small business have a greater ability to help get us out of this economic mess than the government. The YMI? Crew is made up of professional graffiti artists, who also work as animators, graphic designers, emcees, musicians, tattoo artists, and music producers. Currently, they are featuring t-shirts with artwork from Names One, Scrames, and Space, with t-shirts from Cekis, Native, and Cern One to follow soon. All of the t-shirts are organic cotton, fair trade made, and limited to 500 shirts or less for each design.
The company also donates 5% of its profit to charitable organizations you select from a list, such as the "Defenders of Wildlife", "The National Resource Defense Council", and "Earth Justice" a company that actually sues the government when it doesn't follow its own laws regarding the earth's natural resources. "We believe that small business have a greater ability to help get us out of this economic mess than the government" says Jonathan Angelilli, the company's Marketing Director. "It's up to us to create innovative business models that benefit the community, the customer, our environment, and are profitable. It is no small task, but that is exactly our model for
You-Me-It Organics."
