Ahmed Al Reyaysa, who made his name as the first UAE national couturier, and is known as the King of Wedding Dresses, will be exhibiting his label, Dar Sara, at The Bride Show Abu Dhabi.
Taking place from 21 to 24 January 2009 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the event promises to be a four-day celebration of bridal chic. With more fashion shows than any other event in the capital, brides-to-be and fashion enthusiasts can find ideas from 16 fashion shows featuring top regional and international designers.
Al Reyaysa will be on hand at the exhibition for his label Dar Sara’s fashion show. The Dar Sara show will feature an inspiring collection of wedding dresses and gowns from the man who has dressed a host of Arab and international female celebrities.
With dresses priced from AED50,000 to AED1 million, the collection ranges a variety of styles and colours, often making use of intricately applied Swarovski crystals and beading. The Dar Sara collection is one of the most highly anticipated fashion shows at The Bride Show and Al Reyaysa is eager to put the UAE firmly on the map for creative fashion design.
“Designs for Dar Sara depend on a fusion of natural elements and my imagination, so the UAE has factored heavily in my environment and creative process,” said Al Reyaysa.
“While I’ve been at The Bride Show with other leading design houses, this year I am participating individually, revealing to the world my designs for bridal couture and proudly representing the talented fashion designers in the UAE.”
“I may have been the first UAE national fashion designer, but as UAE-born potential for design is tapped and realised, Dar Sara’s collections will share the stage with more top local labels,” Al Reyaysa added.
“We are excited to have such talent exhibiting at The Bride Show Abu Dhabi and look forward to seeing Ahmed Al Reyaysa’s fashion house, Dar Sara, become a household name,” said Daphne Cota, Exhibition Manager, The Bride Show.
“The Bride Show Abu Dhabi plays a crucial role in this industry’s growth by giving new fashion boutiques the opportunity to increase their profile and market share. It is also an excellent platform for young designers to make their mark on a larger stage.”
Sharing the stage with Ahmed Al Reyaysa’s Dar Sara collection, haute couture fashion houses like Ghawashi and Scallini and Abaya designers like Mauzan and Abu Haleeqa will also take to the runway unveiling their latest bridal collections. German retailer Cecile’s show is also a catwalk highlight, as models present exquisite designs from prized labels Elie Saab, Ungaro and Valentino.
The Bride Show Abu Dhabi is the largest wedding and fashion event in the capital; at the 2008 event more than 200 wedding industry experts and suppliers from around the world came together under one roof in a showcase of international design excellence and consummate style.
The Bride Show Abu Dhabi will be the first must-attend event for brides-to-be in 2009 and will be followed by The Bride Show Dubai from 8 to 11 April 2009 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
