Pakistan: Minister for priority to textile industry

The federal minister for textile industry has said that the textile industry is backbone of the country and our economy is dependent on this sector as it is providing four million jobs.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said the government was giving top priority to this industry to make it more vibrant.
He said concrete measures had been taken to ensure constant supply of energy to the textile industry. �he WAPDA authorities have been ordered to ensure sustainable power supply to the textile industry,?he added.
The minister said President Asif Ali Zardari had taken serious notice of the situation and had ordered SNGPL authorities that 20 mmcfd of gas to each textile unit located in Lahore and Faisalabad be ensured.
He said WAPDA and SNGPL authorities had confirmed that concrete measures had been taken to combat load-shedding in the textile sector. They also said the situation would improve further in the next 10 days, he added.
