Membership of Monetary Policy Committee Adjusted

In accordance with the Provisions of the People s Bank of China on Monetary Policy Committee, and as approved by the State Council, Fan Gang s tenure has expired and Zhou Qiren is appointed member of the Committee. Xia Bin and Li Daokui are appointed new members.

Professor Zhou Qiren, who was born in 1950 and holds a doctorate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, is the Director of National School of Development of the Peking University and tutors doctorate candidates there. His research interest is new institutional economics, development economics, and Chinese economy. He has won the Sun Yefang Award in Economic Research and is the author of Reform Faces Institutional Innovation, Rural Evolution and National Economic Development, and Property Right and Institutional Development.

Xia Bin, who was born in 1951 and has a master s degree in finance from the Graduate School of the People s Bank of China, is the Director of Financial Research Institute of the State Council Development Research Center. His research interest is macroeconomics, monetary policy, financial regulation and capital market development in China. A winner of the Sun Yefang Award in Economic Research, he has also written papers that won various awards from the China Society of Banking and Finance. His publications include Research on Finance in China s Transitional Period, China s Monetary Policy in 1990s, and Money Supply: Now An Unfit Monetary Policy Intermediate.

Professor Li Daokui, who was born in 1963 and has a doctorate degree in economics from Harvard University, is the dean of the Finance Department of School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, Director of the Center for China in the World Economy, a member of the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum, a member of the Chinese People s Political Consultative Conference, and a deputy to the Beijing Municipal People s Congress. His research interest is development economics, international economics, corporate finance and the Chinese economy. His articles are published on the American Economic Review, the European Economic Review, Journal of Comparative Economics, and etc.
