Days ago, the 12th EAG Plenary and working group meetings were convened in Almaty, Kazakhstan, attended by more than 120 representatives from EAG members and observers. The Chinese delegation, headed by Deputy Governor Su Ning, also participated in the conference.
The conference approved the member status of Turkmenistan and provided observer status to Montenegro and Serbia. As a result, the EAG now has 8 members and 30 observer countries or organizations.
The plenary discussed the Agreement on Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism and the draft budget for 2011, approved mutual evaluation report of Uzbekistan, follow-up report of Tajikistan and discussed the second round of mutual evaluation. The session also covered typology researches on issues like online money laundering and latest developments made in operation recommendations of EAG.
At the sidelines of the conference, Deputy Governor Su Ning met with EAG chairman Markov (also Aide to the President of the Russian Federation) and FATF President Vlaanderen to discuss China s cooperation with EAG and FATF respectively. Deputy Governor Su also exchanged views with Mr. Chikhanchin, Head of the Federal Financial Service of the Russian Federation, on Sino-Russian AML cooperation.
