On April 15th to 17th, the 19th Meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on IT Audit was held by the CNAO in Beijing. Mr. Shi Aizhong, deputy Auditor General of the CNAO attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. A total of 82 participants from 38 SAIs were present at the annual meeting.

In his opening speech, Mr. Shi Aizhong stressed, with the rapid growth of information industry in China, many e-commerce and e-government projects have been implemented. The surge of computerization of national economic management presents the challenges to the means and methods of government auditing.

The practice has proved that an auditor will definitely lose his qualification if he has no IT knowledge. Therefore, the CNAO started to explore audit computerization based on the actual situation, and has successfully carried out the project of Golden Audit with the great support of the central government.

When the project was initiated, the CNAO joined the INTOSAI WGITA. The exchange and cooperation with other SAIs in the field of IT audit have help the CNAO to learn a lot of practices and experiences accordingly, and greatly promoted the development of IT audit in China. The CNAO will enhance its exchange and cooperation with other SAIs and promote further development of IT Audit.

The meeting was presided over by Mr.Vinod Rai, Comptroller & Auditor General of India as the chair of the WGITA. During the meeting, delegates from CNAO presented the country paper of Evaluation Index for Performance Audit of IT Projects in China and took part in the discussion actively.
