AFTER the global financial turmoil kept it from foreign exhibitions for a year, Murata Boy, a Japanese-made bike-riding robot which drew crowds at previous China Hi-tech Fairs in Shenzhen, will re-appear at this year s fair in November. This time he will bring his girlfriend, the unicycle-riding robot Murata Girl, the organizer said yesterday.
Both the robots, invented by Japanese electronics component manufacturer Murata (China) Investment Co., will show off their stunts during the six-day Elexcon, China s foremost electronics trade show, Jesse Zhao, marketing director of Creativity Convention and Exhibition (Shenzhen) Co., chief organizer of the fair, told a press conference yesterday.
Opening on Nov. 16 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, the annual electronics fair will coincide with the China Hi-Tech Fair and is expected to attract more than 80,000 professional visitors, Zhao said.
Other world-leading electronics companies, including TDK, Omron, Panasonic and Brady, will bring several hundred new products and technological innovations to the 15,000-square-meter fair. Among the 243 exhibitors that had confirmed they would attend the fair, 150 were from overseas including the United States, Germany, South Korea, France and Singapore, Zhao said.
Yasuhiko Chikashige, a sales group manager for Murata (China) Investments, told reporters that the company attracted enormous attention during the three Shenzhen Elexcon fairs prior to 2009.
Xu Deyong, sales manager for Shenzhen JT Automation Equipment Co., said the company would display three of the latest products at the fair.
Accompanying the main event, six industry forums would be conducted on 3G mobile handset displays and portable design and power management, the organizer said.
