WOODSIDE Petroleum Ltd., Australia s second-largest oil producer, could reach an initial agreement to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its Browse project to China by the end of 2010, George J. Gilboy, head of its China unit, said Sunday.

Chinese energy companies are building LNG terminals as part of the government s plan to use more of the cleaner-burning fuel. Woodside has supplied 3 million tons of the fuel a year since 2006 to China National Offshore Oil Corp. s terminal in Guangdong, the nation s first.

Packaging sector output to exceed US$180.5b

THE output value of China s packaging industry would exceed 1.2 trillion yuan (US$180.5 billion) this year, an increase of 20 percent over last year, a spokesperson for the China Packaging Federation said over the weekend.

Areas near Bohai Bay, the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta account for 81 percent of the industry s total output, the spokesperson said.
