Shenzhen Port throughput up
SHENZHEN S cargo throughput reached 16.87 million TEUs (20-ft equivalent units) between January and September this year, an increase of 28.23 percent compared with the same period last year.
In the first nine months, the Shenzhen port handled 166 million tons of cargo, a year-on-year increase of 18.13 percent. Export cargo reached 128 million tons, an increase of 22.79 percent, the city s transport commission said Monday.
CAO, BP form jet fuel, gas oil supply venture
CHINA Aviation Oil (CAO) has inked a four-year agreement with oil major BP Singapore Pte Ltd. to jointly supply jet fuel and gas oil globally. The collaboration, which will take effect from Jan. 1, and was announced late Tuesday, will involve both CAO and BP pooling a portion of their jet fuel and gas oil supplies to be sold to markets in the Middle East, Asia Pacific including China, and Europe.
The shared pool will be managed by both companies and administered by BP. Both will share the realized profits or losses from the venture equally. The agreement does not affect other supply and trading activities of the two firms.
Sept. crude oil imports advance to record
THE country imported a record volume of crude oil last month to meet demand from factories and farmers in the world s fastest-growing major economy.
Purchases increased 11 percent to 23.29 million tons, or 5.52 million barrels a day, compared with a month earlier, according to preliminary data released yesterday by the General Administration of Customs. That beat a previous record of 22.27 million tons in June.
