Fourth quarter growth less than 9%: CSRC
LIU MINGKANG, chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CSRC), said the nation s economic growth this quarter may be less than 9 percent, domestic media reported yesterday.
Annual economic growth may be between 9.8 percent and 10.2 percent, according to Liu. The Chinese currency s appreciation since June has put great pressure on exports, Liu was cited as saying. Home price may not see large gains or declines, Liu said.
Australian iron ore shipments slide
DECLINING Chinese steel production has led to a 40 percent fall in shipments to China from a major Australian port between September and October.
Port Hedland Port Authority said Tuesday that exports to China fell to 6.474 million tons in October, overtaken by shipments to Japan, typically its second-ranked destination.
In recent months, China has been consolidating its steel sector, closing plants that produce less than 1 million tons of crude steel or 300,000 tons of semi-finished products a year.
China to limit annual coal output
CHINA will limit annual coal output to about 3.7 billion tons from 2011 through 2015, the Oriental Morning Post reported yesterday, citing Fang Junshi, head of the National Energy Administration s coal department.
China may have 3.2 billion tons of coal output this year, the newspaper reported, citing Zhang Guobao, head of the National Energy Administration. The nation will seek to consolidate the coal industry to create 10 companies with annual production of 100 million tons and 10 companies with 50 million tons of annual output by 2015.
World machinery fair to open in Shanghai
THE Fifth International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Construction Vehicles and Equipment, also known as Bauma China, will be held at Shanghai New International Expo Center from Nov. 23 to 26.
The subsidiary show of Bauma Germany, the world s biggest trade show for engineering machinery, will attract more than 1,800 exhibitors from 41 countries, including 106 from Guangdong.
Katharina Hamma, executive director from Mese Muenchen International, the organizer, said many leading Chinese construction and engineering machinery manufacturers had launched their global campaigns through mergers and setting up factories overseas.
