China to keep green car subsidies
THE Finance Ministry said over the weekend it would continue subsidies for energy-efficient cars this year, a move that would help the world s largest auto market as other factors threaten to slow its rapid growth.
The ministry said in an online notice that the subsidies for fuel-efficient vehicles and new energy vehicles would be extended through 2011 to help cut emissions.
Whole-year rare earth export quota unlikely
CHINA could not announce a second rare earth export quota in 2011, China Securities Journal said Friday, after international concern was raised by the country s cutting exports of the minerals next year.
The report quoted unidentified government sources as saying the Chinese Government could not announce additional 2011 export quotas for the essential minerals. The Ministry of Commerce usually announces export quotas twice a year. China announced last week that it would cut its export quota on rare earth by 35 percent for the first half of 2011 from a year earlier.
Starbucks raises some prices in China
STARBUCKS Corp., the world s largest coffee-shop chain, said Friday it would increase prices on some Frappuccino products in China by as much as 2 yuan (US$0.30) from Saturday as raw material costs rise.
