A WOMAN was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol after an electric bike rider was knocked down by her car and died yesterday at the intersection of Shennan Boulevard and Huaqiangbei Road.
The woman was later found in Dongmen and a blood test showed her blood-alcohol content was 163 milliliter per 100 milligrams, police said yesterday. Video footage showed the woman did not stop her car after knocking down the biker.
Woman killed
A BICYCLE rider was killed by an allegedly speeding dump truck which crossed against a red light at the intersection of Sili Road and Guanlan Boulevard on Monday. The dump truck driver allegedly tried to escape but was detained by police, a witness told the Shenzhen Daily.
Bus stop fatality
A YOUNG worker in his 20s was knocked into the path of a bus by passengers rushing to catch a bus in Pinghu, Longgang District, yesterday.
The victim, identified as Chen, was accidentally pushed under the wheels of the bus passing the Pinghu Square. He was killed instantly. The bus driver, Zhou, said he didn t see the man fall and realized something had happened only when he felt a bump. It was chaotic at the bus stop, a witness said.
The incident is under investigation.
Drug bust
FOUR people had been arrested for allegedly manufacturing an illegal drug in Bao an District, police said Monday. More than 100 kilograms of ice and 1.4 million yuan (US$208,960) in cash were confiscated in a police raid on a factory in Longhua Subdistrict on June 15. Chinese language media said it was the biggest haul seized in the city this year. The four suspects face criminal charges.
