Beijing
Beijing launched a series of new polices to curb property price hikes April 30. The city has allowed each family to buy only one new house since then. On May 2, Beijing further specified that a family refers to a homebuyer, his or her spouse and their children under 18, and a new house can be either a new or a pre-owned house.
Shanghai
Shanghai released a new housing policy Thursday, restricting local or migrant families to own only one home, either new or pre-owned. The city also started levying value-added tax on land the same day.
Xiamen
Before the beginning of the National Day holidays which started Oct. 1, Xiamen in Futian Province released a temporary housing policy, which allows a family to buy only one new or pre-owned home in Xiamen until Dec. 31.
Guangzhou
Guangzhou s land resources administration recently submitted a draft proposal on housing polices to cap the number of homes to a certain number for each family, but it was still awaiting city government approval. No details were available at press time. (Jane Lai)
