Trick vehicle plate
A TRUCK driver named Gao was fined 6,000 yuan (US$900) for installing a device to flip down the license plate to evade detection when going against traffic lights.
Police officers saw a red truck without a plate on Kui-ping Road in Longgang District on Wednesday. But when they approached to inspect the vehicle, they found the plate was there. Gao, a driver for the Heng anshun Transportation Co. admitted installing the device to avoid detection when going against traffic lights.
Logistics fair opens
THE China (Shenzhen) International Logistics and Transportation Fair 2010 (CILF 2010) will open at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on Friday.
The three-day fair is expected to attract 1,000 exhibitors including UPS, FedEx, EMS, and other companies from 50 countries and regions. The exhibition, occupying 52,500 square meters in Hall 1 and Hall 6, is expected to attract 75,000 professional visitors in three days, the fair organizing committee said Thursday.
Woman jailed
A WOMAN was jailed for five years and fined 5,000 yuan (US$747) for hiring people to assault her brother, a business competitor.
The woman named Zhao was convicted of robbery and assault. Five others involved in the attack received jail terms ranging from 10 months to five years at a Longgang court Thursday.
Zhao paid 8,000 yuan to the five to attack her brother in September last year. They stole 20,000 yuan and a mobile phone during the attack. Zhao s brother received minor injuries. The attackers were caught last December.
