IT is no longer news if a dog owner offers a reward to find a dog.
But a woman in Buji Subdistrict, Longgang District, offered 12,000 yuan (US$1,800) to find the owner of a dog that bit her, according to a Shenzhen Evening News report Thursday.
The dog allegedly bit the woman, Wu, near Bandaoyuan Residential Estate in Buji Subdistrict on May 29 last year. The owner, identified as Lai, had run away.
Wu traced Lai two months later after she placed an advertisement offering a reward for the dog owner. She was claiming compensation of 40,000 yuan from Lai in the Shenzhen Intermediate People s Court.
Lai denied his dog had bitten Wu but an unnamed security guard at the Bandaoyuan Residential Estate supported Wu s claim.
The Longgang District People s Court heard the case in May and decided Lai should pay compensation of 30,000 yuan including 5,000 yuan for the reward money.
Lai appealed to the Shenzhen Intermediate People s Court and a settlement was agreed yesterday.
Details of the settlement were not disclosed. (Tina Chen)
