Hukou for migrants
MORE than 5,000 migrant workers had applied for Shenzhen hukou by Sunday after the human resources and social security bureau launched a credit accumulation program at the end of September.
According to the program, migrant workers who accumulate 60 points are eligible to transfer their hukou to Shenzhen.
Mercury to dip
TEMPERATURES are expected to drop by 3-4 degrees Celsius this evening under the influence of a cold front from the north. Minimum temperatures would range between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures would be between 27-28 degrees Celsius from Saturday to Tuesday, the meteorological observatory said yesterday.

Credit card scam
POLICE arrested 23 suspects in four separate operations across the city Monday for providing cash advances to credit card holders through false point-of-sale transactions.
Most suspects were small business owners who charged cardholders 1-2 percent commission for each transaction. The transactions involved 70 million yuan (US$10.5 million), police said.
Honest cabbie
XIAO MINGBIN, a taxi driver with Huacheng Taxi Service Co., turned in 50,000 yuan in cash and a laptop that had been left by a passenger on the back seat of his cab Tuesday.
The cash and computer were left by a passenger who had been talking on the phone. Xiao took the items to the Huacheng office.
The passenger later called the company s information center and claimed his belongings.
