It was very exciting to watch the torch relay in Shenzhen. I think activities like this help to promote Shenzhen on an international level. I hope Shenzhen can achieve great things with the Universiade next year.

Jason Lupo, Canadian, 36, accounting manager

I m very proud that my colleague Lu Xiangping was one of the 80 torchbearers in Shenzhen, so we all came down here today to celebrate the moment with her. We hope that more migrant workers like us can have a chance to be a part of it.

It was an exciting thing to watch the relay with all my friends and classmates, particularly when the torch passed by. We prepared flags, T-shirts and trumpets, and screamed loudly throughout!

FOR Liu Gang, an Asian Games rifle shooting champion, being the first runner of the torch relay was like competing in an international competition.

Liu arrived at the starting line early before the relay started, repeatedly practicing how to present a perfect start.

Wearing a confident smile, Liu warmed up and took deep breaths, shaking his head at reporters eager to throw him a question.

I feel excited and proud to be the first runner, Liu said, after running 100 meters of the relay.

The torch relay will be the most wonderful memory in my life, Liu smiled.

A Shenzhen athlete, Liu was eliminated in the qualifiers for the Guangzhou Asian Games.
