Winter flights
SHENZHEN Airlines will add more flights from Shenzhen to Nanchang in Jiangxi and Xiangfan in Hubei Province to its winter-spring schedule from Saturday.
The new Shenzhen-Nanchang flight will operate daily, departing Shenzhen at 8 a.m. and arriving in Nanchang at 9:10 a.m. It will depart Nanchang at 10 a.m.
The Shenzhen-Xiangfan flight will operate Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays departing Shenzhen at 9 a.m. and arriving in Xiangfan at 11:30 a.m., Shenzhen Airlines said.
Baby drip death
A BABY girl, Huang Jia, died while receiving an intravenous drip for pneumonia at Weiguang Hospital in Bao an District on Sunday. Huang s parents said the 4-month-old was a lot better after three days of treatment at the hospital and was about to be discharged, but said doctors insisted that she be given another drip. She died 20 minutes after having the drip.
The hospital said Huang s death had nothing to do with the drip and that she had been suffering from many other conditions, including malnutrition. The hospital said the cause of her death was being investigated. Huang s parents are demanding compensation for their loss.
Thieves caught
A GANG of more than 10 thieves was caught by police in Xiangmihu, Futian District, on Saturday. The gang had allegedly committed more than 100 thefts since September, police said Sunday.
Members of the gang worked together to steal mobile phones on buses during the evening rush hour.
Theft charge
THE Bao an District People s Procuratorate has brought charges against a 16-year-old girl, identified as Cao, for burglary. She was charged with stealing a neighbor s laptop by secretly making a copy of the neighbor s key, the procuratorate said.
Cao allegedly stole the laptop Aug. 19 in Guanlan, Bao an District, and was caught three days later. She told police she wanted to have her own laptop to surf the Internet.
College enrolments
A TOTAL of 293 migrant workers have enrolled at universities through a program organized by the Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions, the federation said Sunday.
Huazhong Normal University in Hubei Province enrolled 93, Sichuan University in Sichuan Province 98 and Tianjin University in Tianjin 102 students. Most enrolled to study marketing, management and human resources management.
