SHENZHEN yesterday began its second round of recruitment of civil servants on contracts this year. Applicants must apply before 5 p.m. Nov. 8 to be eligible for one of the 995 vacancies.
Of the total, 554 posts involve management, administrative enforcement and specialized technology, the city s human resources and social security administration said.
Anyone with a college degree or above, including workers and farmers from outside the city, can apply. Previously, people without Shenzhen hukou or household registration certificate could only apply for such positions if they were a cadre. In China, civil servants are divided into cadres, workers and government employees.
Examinations will be held Nov. 20, with qualification inspections conducted from Dec. 5 to 7. Interviews will be held between Dec. 14 and 16, with the exam results and physical examinations to be released from Dec. 17 to 19. The administration will not hold training classes or specify any test material.
About 80 percent are lowly paid jobs and up to 30 percent require at least two years experience.
