MORE than 330,000 industrial employees in Shenzhen faced occupational diseases and more than 10,000 companies had positions rife with health hazards, according to city health authority data.
The highest incidence of occupational diseases was found in jobs in machinery and metals, electronics, printing, plastic toys and jewelry.
From 2000 to 2009, the city reported some 830 cases of occupational disease and 21 deaths.
More than 4 million employees were working for 24,500 industrial companies in Shenzhen by the end of 2009.
