A WOMAN had burns to 18 percent of her body after a robber sprayed gasoline over her and set her alight from behind before making off with 70,000 yuan (US$10,448) the woman was carrying Tuesday.
The woman, identified as Yin, was on her way to her home in the Xiangxi Community in Luohu District after withdrawing 70,000 yuan from a bank.
She is in a stable condition in Shenzhen No. 2 People s Hospital. She said she was walking to a furniture store when someone following her sprayed gasoline over her and started the fire.
When the store owner and others helped put out the fire, they discovered the woman s bag containing 70,000 yuan was missing.
The attacker was not very tall, but I couldn t recognize him because it all happened so fast, Yin told the Shenzhen Evening News. A video footage from cameras installed in the community showed the incident lasted just 10 seconds.
