A TOTAL of 17 people were detained for allegedly operating illegal taxis and using false vehicle plates during a citywide crackdown on rampant illegal operations. About 400 vehicles including electric bikes had been confiscated for allegedly being used as illegal taxi services two days after the monthlong campaign was launched Monday.
Private car owners running illegal taxis were each fined 30,000 yuan (US$4,480).
