Officials assaulted
TWO law enforcement officials were assaulted by an illegal building owner in Pingshan New Zone on Monday, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday. The officials who are being treated in hospital were conducting an on-site inspection when they saw the construction of an illegal building had resumed. Their vehicle was also damaged. The property owner, identified only as Lai, was being held for investigation.
Fast lane for Games
AN express channel was opened at Shenzhen airport for delegations to the Asian Games which open in Guangzhou on Friday. The Uzbekistan delegation passed the express channel Monday noon, becoming the first Asian Games delegation to use the fast channel. It was expected that the number of international travelers passing through Shenzhen airport would increase sharply in the next few days.
Mother s badges
LUOHU District started issuing 10,000 badges to pregnant women to promote public care for expectant women. The pink badge, with a design depicting a baby and words of Thank you for helping my mom in Chinese, was produced following a proposal by Li Jiasheng, a member of the district political advisory body, in January.
There are around 10,000-12,000 women giving birth in the district each year, according to the district health authority.
