CDC relocated
THE Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was relocated to new premises on Longyuan Road, Nanshan District, on Monday.
The new center, which cost 271 million yuan (US$40 million), houses facilities for disease prevention research, as well as chemical and microbiological experiments. The center also has state-of-the-art laboratories for biological testing and detection.
Guard attacked
A 24-YEAR-OLD patrol guard from Dongmen Police Station in Luohu District was seriously injured while trying to apprehend a robber Monday.
Lu Wenyuan was patrolling on Tongle Road when a man snatched a gold necklace from a passerby. When confronted, the man stabbed Lu with a knife. Despite this, Lu managed to subdue the robber.
Lu was in stable condition in hospital yesterday. In his one year working for Dongmen Police Station, he has caught two robbers.
Residential cave-in
A CAVE-IN has occurred in a residential community in Luohu District, forming a 2-meter-deep pit.
Residents said the cave-in was probably caused by weak foundations of the residential building, which was built 13 years ago.
An assessment of the cave-in is being conducted.
Pingshan Web site
PINGSHAN New Zone launched an official news Web site Monday, the sixth district news portal in Shenzhen.
The Web site is expected to provide information on the development of the new zone.
Rent dispute
AN elderly man from Nanshan District, Liu, has sued his two tenants who allegedly refused to pay rent for one year.
However, one of the tenants, Yi, claimed Liu s son had failed to pay a debt and had promised to waive the rent to repay part of the debt.
The hearing is continuing.
