A LONGCHENG Construction Supervision Co. s quality control official has denied inferior quality of construction at a government subsidized housing project in Nanshan District despite cracks appearing in walls and ceilings of more than 30 households just two months after the homeowners moved in.
The quality control official, Zhang Guangming, was quoted in yesterday s Daily Sunshine as saying: A lesson was learned from the third phase of the Taoyuancun housing estate last year. Zhang was in charge of quality control for the housing project.
Zhang made the comment during an on-site inspection by the city s housing authority to the Shenyuncun housing estate in Nanshan District. More than 30 of the 683 householders who moved in about two months ago had complained about the poor quality of the buildings. Homes in Shenyuncun were sold for 4,000 yuan (US$600) per square meter to low-income families in the city. The average cost of housing in Shenzhen is now around 20,000 yuan per square meter.
One of the households reported a 6-meter crack in the ceiling of the living room just one month after moving in, the Daily said. Water is also seen leaking from the ceiling, the homeowner Zhang Jie said.
Cracks of up to 10 meters were also reported in other homes, according to the Daily.
We have to wait for the final investigation report by experts, Zhang said.
He said the 20 high-rise apartment buildings in Shenyuncun were contracted to eight different companies and two other companies had been appointed for quality control. Quality has been one of our priorities on this project, he said.
The housing authorities were yet to announce the findings of the inspection. (SD News)
