THE city planning and land resources authority launched a platform to provide citywide geo-spatial information Thursday.
The Platform of Fundamental Geo-spatial Information, part of the Digital Shenzhen project, collected digital data of 220,000 information points across the city.
The platform also provides two-dimensional and three-dimensional digital maps of the city, with real-time updates.
Residents can log onto www.szgeoinfo.com to use the platform, a digital infrastructure of the virtual city. It is an easy way to explore the city, Guo Renzhong, vice chief of the urban planning, land and resources commission, told a news conference Thursday.
In the digital system, the city layout is plotted into 10,000 fundamental digital grids and identification numbers are given for 500,000 addresses and 600,000 buildings.
The platform will facilitate city planning, traffic, public service, surveys and statistics, said Liu Jingnan of the China Academy of Engineering.
Detailed information about public facilities such as hospitals, parks, hotels as well as bus and Metro information can be searched on the system.
Information such as average property prices in an area, land prices, population, birth and death rates, even the average income of residents are also included in the database.
The city s police bureau also integrated addresses and building identification numbers into the system for residential management.
An intelligent traffic system provided real-time traffic information on all roads.
Shenzhen is one of five pilot cities in Guangdong to develop the digital city geo-spatial framework.
