A 3-month-old baby died after he was struck by an iron bar that fell from a construction site in Longgang District on Saturday, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday.
The baby was being carried by his mother when the accident happened in Aomenxincun housing estate in Minzhi Subdistrict, the paper said. Witnesses said the mother was walking past a construction site when an object fell from a structure, hitting the child.
An ambulance was called but the child later died at Shenzhen Children's Hospital.
Police are investigating.
