A participant in a stair-climbing charity event arrives at the 40th floor of Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen. The vertical climb was organized by the hotel to raise funds for the Shenzhen Red Cross to aid 63 local families with children suffering from thalassaemia. More than 100 people participated in the marathon climb, a vertical distance of 191 meters (440 steps), with the fastest, a Russian competitor, taking around seven minutes.

The hotel presented to the Shenzhen Red Cross a check for 45,730 yuan (US$6,825), 1 percent of the hotel's net sales of moon cake box sets in 2010, and more than 1,000 yuan raised during the event.
