THE UA Cinema Shenzhen, the city s first IMAX theater, opened Saturday at KKMALL in Caiwuwei, Luohu District.
The cinema premiered Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday, the same day as the film s worldwide release.
The cinema, which cost more than 50 million yuan (US$7.53 million), has an IMAX screen measuring 12 meters in height.
The cinema s eight halls are capable of seating 1,000 people. Tickets can be reserved online at the cinema s official Web site.
IMAX movies, supported by IMAX Corp. s proprietary technology, use high-definition images projected on an enormous screen.
The cinema is managed by Hong Kong UA Cinemas, founded in 1985. UA now operates nine cinemas with 42 screens in Hong Kong.
