Tax revenue
SHENZHEN Bay Customs collected over 4 billion yuan (US$602 million) in tax revenue by Friday, almost double that recorded in the same period last year, according to the department.
It is the first time Shenzhen Bay Customs annual revenue has exceeded 4 billion yuan.
Road greening
GREENING has been completed on the verges of 28 roads in Longgang District, according to the urban management bureau.
The district plans to green the verges of all the 132 trunk roads and secondary trunk roads before May next year.
Universiade Center
INTERIOR decoration has started at the Universiade Center in Longgang District, the Games organizing body said.
The main Games venue, the center includes a stadium, a gymnasium and a swimming pool.
Scaffolding fall
A WOMAN died in an 8-meter fall from scaffolding at the construction site of the Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology in Longgang District on Friday.
Another worker, later confirmed to be the woman s husband, was slightly injured.
Workers were painting the ceiling of the library when the woman, a painter, fell. Witnesses said she had not been wearing a safety harness.
Warehouse fire
A FIRE engulfed a seven-story factory at an industrial park in Guanlan, Bao an District, on Friday.
A security guard said flammable plastics were stored in the warehouse. It took firefighters two hours to extinguish the blaze. There were no casualties.
An investigation is under way.
