Pigs poisoned
More than 10 pigs in a slaughter house in Gongming Subdistrict were found dead Thursday after being poisoned. The slaughter house had paid the owner 20,000 yuan (US$2,985) in compensation for the animals, a source told the Shenzhen Daily. The market and health supervision authority has taken samples for testing.
Worker electrocuted
A worker was electrocuted while repairing a lamppost at a village in Bantian, Longgang District, Thursday afternoon. The worker, identified as Wu, 30, a native of Meizhou, was an electrician at the Guangya Garden housing estate. Police are investigating.
Drivers beaten
Five route 306 bus drivers were beaten by a gang of security guards in Longgang District on Thursday. It was alleged that the security guards were ordered to beat the men by their manager, identified as Liu, after a minor traffic dispute with a bus driver identified as Xiao. Liu allegedly followed Xiao to the bus terminal and summoned a dozen security guards to attack the drivers. The five drivers were taken to hospital for treatment. The security guards were detained by police.
