In 1946, Fang joined the army and started serving as a bodyguard for Ye Jianying, the late Chinese communist general and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People s Congress from 1978 to 1983.

Fang has more than 3,000 disciples whom he teaches martial arts and medicine.

He is a hero and I m willing to stay with him for the rest of his life, said his bride, who gave only her surname, Yang.

A Guizhou native, Yang was introduced to Fang by friends and became one of his disciples.

The two eventually fell in love, with Yang proposing to Fang, the paper said.
