Holiday tickets
SHENZHEN Airlines will tomorrow start selling 50,000 round-trip tickets on its 110 routes for the Spring Festival holiday travel season.
Some tickets will be sold at a 75-percent discount. Most of the routes link Shenzhen and Guangzhou with other major Chinese cities including Beijing, Changsha, Nanjing, Haikou and Jinan, the company said yesterday.
Departure times are between Dec. 15 and Feb. 2 (Chinese New Year s Eve) while return tickets must be used between Feb. 5 and March 10.
Suicide attempt
A WOMAN attempted to commit suicide Sunday after a quarrel with her husband over gambling.
The woman, He, 33, makes a living from a breakfast stand in Futian but her husband takes the money to gamble. She attempted suicide by turning on the gas at home Sunday but was rescued by firefighters, a witness surnamed Zhao told the Shenzhen Daily.
She is in a stable condition at Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital.
Stick injury
A PASSENGER injured his face while he was eating fish balls on a stick in a taxi Sunday. The taxi driver had to brake suddenly to avoid hitting a pedestrian at an intersection of Shenhui Road.
The passenger, Mu, lost his balance when the taxi suddenly stopped and the stick went through his cheek. The taxi driver took him to hospital.
Lottery winner
A YOUNG man surnamed Li in Songgang, Bao an District, claimed the 10-million-yuan (US$1.5 million) lottery prize Saturday.
Li was the third 10-million-yuan lottery winner this year. City lottery sales this year had exceeded 2 billion yuan by Friday, the lottery center said yesterday.
