TRAFFIC offenders who have 12 demerit points in a year or have their driver s licenses suspended for three months must attend training and sit for examinations before being allowed back on the roads, according to a new rule that takes effect today.
Drivers who have 12 points deducted are required to go to police units to obtain a training notice before booking a training course at the Shenzhen Traffic Safety Education Center on the seventh floor of Pengyun Building on Meilin Road in Futian District.
Those who are 30 minutes late for the first training session would have to book again, police said yesterday.
Drivers must undergo seven days of training before attending a written test.
Those whose driver s licenses have been suspended for three months or more need six hours of training along with drivers who have lost fewer than 12 points.
If the drivers pass the test, they will still have three points deducted. No more than six points can be deducted in a year.
